Review on Holmes HM495UC Humidifiers Sale # 1

I've owned this humidifier for over a year now and I am in the process of looking for Holmes HM495UC Humidifiers Sale to replace all my other ones in the home. It's filterless so I haven't had to worry about moldy smells or finding a filter in the middle of winter at ridiculous prices. Anywho, this one is in my kids' room and I keep it at a low setting and it gives off this soft hum that actually drowns out other home noises. I fill it up every third day and I haven't had problems with water spilling or any other malfunction (like I've read in other reviews). Once a month I clean the base with a clorox wipe and I'm set. I also add an anti microbial solution (from Kaz)every time I refill it and it helps keep it clean and odorless.

Review on Holmes HM495UC Humidifiers Sale #2

I already have a Vornado humidifier, but bought this one because I was tired of buying and storing replacement filters and Holmes HM495UC Humidifiers is on Sale . This humidifier is extremely quiet. If you listen carefully, you may hear a slight trickle as the tank drains, but the blower is inaudible. The tank is very capacious. I run it on high all day and night and only refill it twice a day. I've been very happy. It only gets four stars, though, because it's a bit underpowered. The vaporizer is capable of producing a lot of steam, but the blower can't push it far enough into the air. If you run the unit on the highest setting, you must place it on a raised, waterproof platform so that the water doesn't settle to the ground. If Holmes had included a more powerful fan, it wouldn't be a problem. For now, I have a fan pointed at it to mix the steam with the air.

Vicks UV 99.999% Germ Free Ultrasonic Humidifier Review # 2

Due to both health and profession (singers in the house) we have had Humidifiers for several years blasting in the cold winters. We quickly found that cold mist humidifiers, or even warm mist humidifiers without an UV germ killing light, produced more coughs and upper respiratory track problems than they solved. We moved then to Slant Finn UV light humidifiers, which solved our health and voice problems, and ran many of these to the ground -- the average lifetime of the SlantFinns was about two seasons without problems, a third if we got lucky...

The Vicks UV 99.999% Germ Free Ultrasonic Humidifier  are a tad quieter than the SlantFinn (some of which had a fan to move the water vapor faster), but the Vicks humidifier is not exceedingly quiet. Their loudness is typical of other boil humidifiers and yes, on occasion, the water and pads, or water and chaos theory can get just so that the humidifiers will be loud. Yet, the next day or even hour, they can quiet down. I am sure it depends on the person, but we find the bubbling of the humidifiers soothing...

So far, our original Vicks has run very well after ten weeks of continuous daily use, and I have gotten another one which has performed exactly as the first. The best thing is that the Vicks use a floater with a lever to tell the unit whether water is present, or whether they are running dry... The SlantFinns used an electrode and the electrode became flaky and partially dissolved after one season or two, and by season three would be gone and rendering an otherwise fine unit inoperable.

Relating to other reports, in our experience, placing the humidifiers in a table or floor has been level enough.

We do find that the Humidifier knob / setting even 3/4s of the way might shut the humidifier at low humidity levels (45-50%, we like 55- 60%) but turning the knob all the way has resulted in non-stop operation that we like. (The unit might or might not have a hygrometer controlling the power cycle, though functionally we have seen no difference to the SlantFinns which advertised a hygrometer control)

Another good thing is that the water reservoirs are not too heavy, nor too tall and fit our kitchen sink and faucets. At continuous use, full power, each water reservoir lasts about nine hours, so the two give you about 18 hours in our experience. This is less than the advertised 24 hours, but then again, we run them at the max humidity setting.

The units' mist does smell like plastic for a few days after the units were new, but this was minimal and perceivable only by sticking our noses two inches from the grate.

As in many other consumer appliances which have fallen for blue LED indicators, the LEDs are blindingly bright for night use and it is necessary to tape a piece of cardboard over the LED and even then, there is plenty of brightness in the room.

As far as the UV light, you can see some of the visible light portion emanating from the UV bulb in nooks and crannies of the unit, but so far have had no eye problems but then again we do not stare at it and the amounts are minimal. The light, between violet and blue, is actually quite nice in color. Our experience with the Slant Finns is that the UV light along with the heat from the unit's bottom might mar fine furniture finishes over a winter, so a protective material is a good idea.

We find that we do not need to clean them too often, that the Teflon covered boil chamber works seems to keep salt deposits in control --but not perfectly by any means.

I have bought a second unit, and have been equally pleased... So far no problem with leaks, though some (not Vicks) humidifiers we have had did end up their lives in a puddle, but I have to say we ignored signs of problems (small salt water traces indicating small leaks) prior to larger leaks.

Vicks UV 99.999% Germ Free Ultrasonic Humidifier Review # 1

Vicks UV 99.999% Germ Free HumidifierMy new house has gas heat and I found it really dried the place out. I was especially getting tired of the static electricity buildup due to the low Humidity -- I was getting zapped basically every time I walked somewhere and touched something.

I had no idea that shopping for a Humidifier would be so hard. I learned a lot by browsing and reading reviews. I decided that what I wanted was:

* "Hot" Humidifier -- makes steam rather than spritzing cold water
* Quiet -- gurgling ok, noisy fan not ok.
* Something that would let me set a humidity level and would turn off the unit once that level was reached (I wanted to avoid ever coming home to a tropical jungle atmosphere)
* Easy to refill
* Easy to clean
* Germ killing UV light
* Big enough tank to run for 10+ hours without a refill
* Ships from Amazon ($15 shipping from a 3rd party seller? no thanks)

This Humidifier is the only one I found that matches ALL of the above criteria.

So far I'm really pleased with it. The unit has no real fan, just a little tiny one inside the middle, enough to make the steam gently waft out of the top. I'm not getting condensation on anything. It's a fine steam that seems to get soaked up readily by the dry air in my house before it can possibly condense on anything.

Refilling is easy. If you look at the picture of the unit, each of those blue sides is a separate tank. You can leave the unit running with one tank while you go refill the other tank. To fill the tank you turn it upside down, screw off the bottom cap, fill it up, screw the cap back on and flip it back onto the unit. I had no trouble at all with anything spilling and in fact there's no problem with taking off a half-full tank to top it off.

After running it overnight I had one tank near empty and the other over half full. I'm running 1 of these for an entire 3 story townhouse -- I should really buy 1 or 2 more but with just this one running I'm already seeing a very noticeable reduction in static. Basically the floor its on (middle level) has no static issues anymore and the other two levels don't zap me as often or as hard!

If you put it in your bedroom you're going to want a nice piece of electrical tape or something for the super bright, blue power light. It does make a lovely night light for my living room, though. The gurgling noise I think I could sleep with.

The only way I would like this unit more is if the UV light would hit the tanks (wouldn't that help keep them clean?) rather than simply the water leaving the tanks and since it's already measuring humidity it would be handy if it would tell me what the current humidity is.

Still, I think it's going to be hard to beat this Vicks UV 99.999% Germ Free Ultrasonic Humidifier .

(P.S., when shopping for replacement mineral absorption pads, pay close attention to shipping costs. Some of the ones shipped by 3rd parties on Amazon have ridiculous shipping charges. Find the ones that Amazon sells directly instead. Size does not have to be exact. The pad just sort of floats around in the boiling chamber.)

(P.P.S., the unit does not tell you what the humidity is, which is a shame, but it does have a dial to control how humid it will get. This works for me: turn the unit on and let it run for an hour or so with the dial all the way "on". After its settled in and bubbling nicely, turn the dial slowly left until you hear it go 'click' -- that's the current humidity level, which will probably be pretty low if you needed a humidifier! That dial is like a thermostat. If you keep the dial right around where it went "click", it will try to maintain the current humidity level. Turn it up and it will try to reach the new goal. If you put it into a smallish area (like a single room) it should have no trouble reaching a level and keeping it there and at that point it won't go through so much water. If you put it into a big area (like a living room in an open house) it'll probably run constantly trying to reach the desired humidity and you'll need to refill it about once a day. I've got the dial at about 1/3rd on and that at least kills the static in my house. In other news, I just took it out of storage for a second winter and it's up and running just fine again. I'm highly tempted to buy a second one... one for my bedroom and one for the living room...)

Air-O-Swiss 32838 Ultrasonic Humidifier Review # 2

Despite the mixed reviews for this Air-O-Swiss 32838 Ultrasonic Humidifier, I went and got one. I had also bought a Slant/Fin GF-211D a couple weeks earlier. Since I only wanted to keep one, I ran a few of my own tests.

I set up the Humidifiers in different rooms of approx. the same size on the same floor. Both were set to max humidity on HI. Several hours later I came back. The first test was inconclusive, although, it seemed the Air-O-Swiss 32838 Ultrasonic Humidifier room was slightly more humid. What made the test difficult was that the warm mist on the Air-O-Swiss was not nearly as warm as on the Slant/Fin (which only uses warm mist). So I switched rooms and ran the test again. This time when I came back, the Air-O-Swiss room was like a SWAMP! It was seriously humid in there! The Slant/Fin room, however, felt about the same as before. As a result, I kept the Air-O-Swiss 32838 Ultrasonic Humidifier.

Some people have complained about white dust. At my parents' house (which has slightly harder water) the white dust was very slight and took several days to even notice. At my apartment (which has softer water) their is no white dust at all. So, if you have hard water that might be an issue, but there are other options such as using distilled water.

As mentioned above, the warm mist is not that warm. It's warmer than the cool mist, but don't expect it to make your room any warmer.

The relatively low maintenance is also a plus. The Slant/Fin needed cleaning every few days, but the Air-O-Swiss can go for a few weeks and even then it doesn't seem that unclean.

Overall I think this is a great humidifier. It humidifies over 800 sq ft (according to the manual) and seems to cover my two-bedroom apartment just fine. In terms of helping asthma/sinuses, the Slant/Fin might be better, but in terms of pure humidity, the Air-O-Swiss is the best!

Air-O-Swiss 32838 Ultrasonic Humidifier Review

This is my first Humidifier after previously living in California, and then moving to Chicago where the humidity level during winter is horrid.

I read all the reviews and honestly was expecting the worst, virtually no Humidifier got any decent reviews and you'd think this $200 model was a PoS based on the poor feedback.

All I can say is folks, if you have HARD WATER, do NOT buy this model. Seems pretty simple right? Yet everyone buys it anyone, complains, and rates it down. This seems to happen on most units, short of those with manufacturing defects.

I've been running Air-O-Swiss 32838 Ultrasonic Humidifier for the last week after buying it at BB&B (was paranoid about having to return it, the discount from their coupon didn't hurt either as it was cheaper than amazon), and it's been running flawlessly since I bought it through every night and some evenings keeping humidity around 40-50%.

I did let the mineral filter soak for the recommended 24hrs, and this is also running off city water in a large hi-rise.

All the features like the automatic mode, and the 'warm mist' seem to work just fine, and the unit looks great (ie. doesn't look like a white and clear blue eyesore), plus takes up very little space.

Recommended this Air-O-Swiss 32838 Ultrasonic Humidifier if you have good quality water.

Vicks Warm Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier with Auto Shut-Off #2

I purchased the Vicks Warm Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier with Auto Shut-Off while visiting my family in Utah for the holidays. I had a sore throat and that mixed with the heater running and the already very dry air and i was getting up to get a drink 4 times a night. the first night i spent with the humidifier i didn't get up at all. i decided to leave it there and use it every time i visit, summer or fall. and i liked having a humidifier so much i bought a warm mist one, the v745a for my chicago apartment. here is a comparison of the two.

i bought the Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifiers for the desert because it was cheaper and will only be used a few weeks a year but will be both summer and winter. it does blow a lot of cool air and will be especially nice in the summer. some people found it quite loud but i thought it was reasonable and used it on the high setting. but i am also used to sleeping with a fan on during the summer. i liked the fact that its shape is lower to the ground making it difficult to tip over. and the seal for the water tank is easier to open and close all the way to prevent leaks. but even after one week's use at night the filter is already more yellow than i expected. if i was using it every day i would have to change it very regularly. it also does move a lot of air like i said before, but the vents are low and it seemed like it was blowing all that moist air right under the bed.

i bought the Warm Mist Ultrasonic Humidifiers for my apartment because i will only be using it in the winter and didn't want the cold air when my heater is aready working so hard. and i figured it would be more useful during cold season because of the attached medicine cup. it is also for medium/large rooms while the cool mist is for smal/medium so i could move it to my living room if needed. and because i saw the filter on the cool mist got so dirty so fast i liked the fact that this one had no filter, no parts to replace. just weekly cleaning. and the cost difference between this one and the cool mist is about the cost of one filter replacement. it makes very little difference in terms of air temperature, does not heat it up as much as i thought it would, vs the cool mist which did make the room quite a bit cooler. i like the fact that the steam comes out of the top instead of under the bed and it is more quiet than the cool mist even when on the high setting. it does have automatic shut off so i don't have to worry about it boiling dry. i did some research online about warm vs cool humidifiers before purchasing them, and many recommended cool mist for children because of burn risk from using the warm. even after being on all night the unit is cool to the touch and it has a cooling chamber so even the steam that comes out is unlikely to burn. the only way i think a child could injure themselves with this unit would be if they tipped it over, took it apart and touched the actual heating unit because of the auto shut off. my husband guessed the warm mist might take more electricity to run but we'll have to see about that.

overall i am a little happier with the warm mist because i need it for winter, it is quieter and needs to filters replaced. but they are both excellent and inexpensive and once you get one you will wonder why you waited so long. (and by the way the cool mist is $29.99 at target and the warm is $34.99, sorry amazon)

Vicks Warm Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier with Auto Shut-Off Customer Review

I knew i needed a Humidifier, as i'm just not used to the dry air of east coast winters. But after shopping around on amazon for Warm Mist Humidifiers, i was horrified by the reviews. Every Humidifier seemed to be loud, leaky, and a hassle. I ended up getting this one because of the relatively low price, thinking that if it was as bad as all the others, at least i wouldn't have spent too much on it.

I have no complaints.

On the low setting, it's about as loud as a pot of water boiling in the next room. On the high setting, it might compete with a pot of water boiling in the same room. Every once in a while it gets a bit talkative, but that's rare and doesn't last long. I'm a light sleeper, and this unit never wakes me up.

On the low setting, a full tank of water lasts a little over 24 hours. On the high setting, it goes through in about 8 to 9 hours, perfect to run overnight.

The auto-shutoff works just fine, so i don't even bother turning it off before i leave the house.

Vicks Warm Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier is a bit annoying to clean the unit, but that has a lot to do with the tap water here being less than perfectly clean. We switched to using filtered water, and now the humidifier is actually our way of knowing when to change the filter. When there's build-up on the heating element, the filter isn't working as well anymore.

The daily maintenance takes no more than a few minutes. The weekly maintenance takes longer, but that's mainly because you throw some of the pieces in to soak. It's maybe 10 minutes of effort, plus however long you want to soak the pieces.

In all, i'm very glad i purchased this Vicks Warm Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier. (And the water tank isn't nearly as blue as it looks in the picture.)

The Sharper Image EV-HD10 Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier Review

I purchased this The Sharper Image EV-HD10 Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier a year ago for my two boys, who seem to always be congested either with colds or seasonal allergies or due to the dry air from our A/C. Prior to having this one, we went through a couple humidifiers (either warm or cool mist) a season because they either broke down, didn't do a good enough job, leaked, or were too difficult to clean. This humidifier works like a DREAM and is so very VERY easy to clean. I love that I can turn the dial to output the desired amount of mist. It's super quiet, too. I know others have said they've had problems with theirs being too noisy or becoming noisy after awhile, but I have not experienced that problem. I've also read that some complain about the demineralization cartridge not working for as long as stated or costing too much. I can agree and sympathize there, but folks...you don't have to buy that cartridge. Just use distilled water. It does the same job, and you can pick up the gallong jugs from your grocery store. While this humidifier IS easy to clean, the manufacturer recommends you do clean the water tank every two to three weeks - as well as the water inlet and ultrasonic nebulizer, which are behind a panel that pops off. Don't forget that little bit of maintenance; it's important. I have to say, I LOVE that there are no mold issues with this humidifier compared to other cheaper ones I have used. All in all, after having gone through a multitude of humidifi

Venta Sonic VS205 Cool and Warm Mist Ultrasonic Room Humidifier Review

Having tried many different types of Humidifiers to help ease the dry winter weather, I like this Venta Sonic VS205 humidifiers the best.

1. Unlike evaporative humidifiers, there is no wick. After a few weeks, the wicks develop a moldy odor and need to be replaced.

2. It's very low maintenance: I've had 4 units now for several months (one in the master bedroom, one in each of the kids rooms, and one in my office) and the most I've had to do is wipe the base with a towel and clean some scale off the oscillator with the included brush.

3. It's easy to operate. Two knobs (humidity setting/spray power) and one button (mist temperature). It doesn't have a built-in humidistat, but that's an advantage as far as I'm concerned, since most reviewers say the ones that do are inaccurate anyway. $20 buys you a good hygrometer that you can place anywhere in the room. (I've got the Honeywell TM-005X)

4. It's very quiet. Really. You can barely hear it.

5. I was reluctant to buy an ultrasonic humidifier because, as others have noted, the mist only goes a short distance and it mainly humidifies the floor in front of it. But this unit has a pretty good kick to it. And here's a tip -- buy a small fan (I use a Vornado Flippi V8) and use it to waft the mist up into the room. The Vornado on it's low setting is also barely audible, looks great, and takes up minimal space. The Venta-Sonic/fan combo will set you back considerably less than the Vornado humidifier with the built-in fan. Vornado V8 Flippi Personal Fan, Medium, Black

6. Yes, you have to turn the unit upside down to fill it up. Big deal. Don't you have to do this with every water tank?

7. Most important -- it humidifies. Venta Sonic VS205 humidifiers easily raises the humidity level 10 to 15% in a very large 15x 20 foot bedroom with a high tray ceiling.

Germ Guardian H1000 TableTop Humidifier Review

Germ Guardian H1000 TableTop HumidifierGerm Guardian H1000 TableTop Humidifier doesn't require a filter and it didn't require any "cleaning" until the end of the "season". I love the little brush it comes with to clean the metal plate and that was all I had to do after 3 months of use. I just pulled it out after storing it from the summer and it was all set to go!

I will say that how much water is used per night depends on how arid and dry it is that day. For instance, last week we had a few rainy days (we're in the Midwest)- it only emptied halfway at night so I didn't need to fill it for the following night. But, I know (from using it last year) that as we get further into the winter season, it will almost fully empty every evening. (About 8-9 hours of constant running.) But it weighs practically nothing and you can fill it up in your sink (instead of bending over a bathtub while it gets heavier and heavier like the large models). I sleep with it on the nightstand next to my side of the bed and never have any trouble at night throughout the winter with dry nasal passages, or dry throat or drying skin. I don't think it would work as much for an entire room, but it keeps the moisture right where you need it - next to you while you sleep. If you want a humidifier that is designed to put moisture into an entire room, you should buy a larger model humidifier. This is designed for just one person really. I do plan to buy two more of these when it's all said and done - one for my daughter's room and one for my desk at work. I do believe it is a tad expensive, so I will need to buy them at separate times, but I like it that much. (Really, it shouldn't cost more than $20 - $30 MAX!)

One last thing - I absolutely loathe humidifiers that you have to change filters or have to clean out the scaling that seems to happen. I'd much rather throw those away than reuse them the following season because no matter what you do - they will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER come 100% clean! The fact that I didn't have to do BARELY ANYTHING to this little gem (other than rinsing it out and using the little brush once in awhile) was the icing on the cake the for me.

Pros of Germ Guardian H1000 TableTop Humidifier
-Small size- takes up very little space on a desk, easy to move around
-Large output of cool air for its size
-Quiet- about the same noise level as our Dell computers
-Easy to refill (especially compared to larger ones)
-No filters needed
-Lasts about 8 hours (perfect for my workday!)

Cons of Germ Guardian H1000 TableTop Humidifier
-There is a low blue light in this that can't be turned off. At work I can't even see it because I'm surrounded by fluorescent lights, but it might bother some people (although some might like it as a nightlight)
-There is only one setting for this humidifier. This doesn't concern me because I enjoy the amount of air it puts out, but I can see how other people would like more options

Mini Office Ultrasonic Humidifier Customer Review

Ordered 2 of these Humidifiers because I already have 2 and wanted to add the new ones in the house. I rec'd them quickly from one of Amazon's vendors. However, one of the humidifiers was defective (the knob wouldn't turn more than 1/4 of the way, so no mist!!). I emailed the vendor & he gave me a hard time about returning for a replacement. Finally after a week of emails and telling him I filed a complaint to the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, he agreed to replace it. Despite all that, I recommend these humidifiers for home or work. I use one at work all day & one in my bedroom at night - love them! Very quiet humidifiers!!! My breathing is better, the air is cool & refreshing. I add fresh cold water every morning. Just keep them clean - wash them once a week with a little bleach & hot water to keep any mold in check. I also add a couple drops of Sweet Orange aromatherapy in the tank (doesn't clog) & it scents my cubicle at work, and my bedroom at night. Highly recommended.

Bionaire BU498-U Ultrasonic Personal Humidifiers Review

I have had it for over two weeks and overall, Bionaire BU498-U Ultrasonic Personal Humidifiers is a great humidifier!

Small Size:
The size one of the greatest things about it; it sits on my desk at work and takes up very little room. Many co-workers have been impressed with its size and asked me where I got it (Bed Bath & Beyond, $39.99). It is not meant to be left unattended since it does not have an auto-off feature. The resevoir is small and easy to hold in one hand, making re-filling super easy!

No leaks:
I have had it for two weeks and have had no leaks. Other reviewes complain the unit leaks quite a bit. I have had no leaks AT ALL. If you move the unit or shake it or tilt it, it will leak ... as will ANY humidifier because water is in the base of the unit and can spill if you tilt/kick it by accident. The resevoir itself does not leak after filling. As with every humidifier you MUST follow the instructions for daily maintenance else you will encounter problems. Other reviewers likely fail to perform daily maintenance thus had leaks and other problems.

No trouble inserting the resevoir:
the resevoir is not difficult to insert as other reviewers have described. Read the instruction manual on how to insert it properly and you will have NO PROBLEMS.

Quiet:
Bionaire BU498-U Ultrasonic Personal Humidifiers is so quiet that i forget i have it on; this is great for the office/cubicle because it does not disturb other co-workers

no filters to replace:
this is second best feature of this Humidifer... no filters to replace means no ongoing maintenance expense... most OTHER ultrasonic humidifiers require a filter that must be replaced and will often cost you $10 or more so you will end up spending hundreds more on the filters over the long term than you did on the humidifer itself!... but not the case with the Bionaire Personal humidifier

Disadvantage (not major issues though):
-will keep running even if out of water; I use this at work so it is not a problem since i just check it every few hours and refill as needed.
-blue led is bright... this is an easy fix... i just covered it with a piece of masking tape
-mist is cool, not warm

* Very very satisfied with this Bionaire BU4000-UC Ultrasonic Humidifier. It works great in a small room (no bigger than (8'x10'). It is very sleek, stylish, SUPER quiet (you can not hear it AT ALL). The double tanks assures at least 8 hours on high setting. Very satisfied.

* Bionaire BU4000-UC Ultrasonic Humidifier is a great silent humidifier. It works really well but make sure you either use filtered water in it or be prepared to change the filters often with harder water

* Easy to use for Bionaire BU4000-UC Ultrasonic Humidifier. The dual tanks allow you to fill one at a time while the machine is still on. Very quiet. Two output levels. It's hard to figure out which one you are using as there is no high or low button. You have to push the same button.

Come back for Review Air-O-Swiss AOS Ultrasonic Humidifier - 7135 (again #2 )

We bought this Air-O-Swiss AOS Ultrasonic Humidifier at Linens N' Things with a discount coupon to use in our bedroom at night. Although we have a humdifier attached to our gas furnace, when we turn the heat off at night, the cold air sucks up the moisture and it becomes hard to breathe. This unit solved the problem.

The Air-O-Swiss AOS Ultrasonic Humidifier has quality construction written all over it. The pushbutton controls are logically arranged on the front and the electronic display makes it a breeze to control and monitor both the humidity level(can be adjusted 40-75%) and water level output(five levels). The unit has a handy Auto feature that makes these adjustments automatically depending on the room temperature. I use this feature every night since our room temperature is much colder in the middle of the night. The unit also lets you program it to shut off completely at any interval from 1 to 9 hours. I program it to go off early in the morning when my furnace and main humidifer go on.

I have found that the easiest way to fill the Air-O-Swiss AOS Ultrasonic Humidifier is in the bathtub. Simply unscrew the mineral cartridge, turn the tank upside down, and fill it to overflowing. When you screw the mineral cartridge back in, it will elimiminate any excess water, so you cannot overfill the tank. Since the tank is clear, there is never any doubt about how much water is left. Based on my usage, I have found that one full tank lasts me two nights.

A separate gizmo that I have to test the humidity levels in my house confirms that the humidity readings on this unit are accurate. The Air-O-Swiss AOS Ultrasonic Humidifier is whisper quiet. You will not hear any mechanical or gurgling sounds at night(just buy a cheap $30 unit at the drugstore and you will see the difference).

Maintenance requires replacing the mineral cartridge every 2-3 months depending on usage at $12.50 a pop and the silver ion rod that keeps out bacteria each year at $30. Considering the months of comfort that we enjoy from this unit, that's a bargain.

To Clean the base of Air-O-Swiss AOS Ultrasonic Humidifier is easy since it is relatively compact and easily fits under the sink faucet. A symbol lights up on the electronic display to let you know when cleaning is necessary, though you can also easily tell by looking at the base. In any event, you should rinse it once a week with water, and use vinegar if you have any mineral deposits.

This unit provides either warm or cool mist, though we use only the warm mist since that keeps our bedroom temperature from dropping even further. I suggest turning it on about a half hour before bedtime to ensure a warm mist is coming out when you go to sleep since nothing heats instantaneously.

If you want to elimiate stuffy noses in a bedroom or small den, this unit will do the trick. It is not cheap, but it is worth the money.

Come back for Review Air-O-Swiss AOS Ultrasonic Humidifier - 7135 (again)

Air-O-Swiss AOS Ultrasonic Humidifier - 7135I went to a local Bed Bath and Beyond to find silent or near silent humidifier. Salesman introduced this Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier as the best machine on market. He added Venta-Sonic does the same job but costs $50 less, and all other brands can't compare. I bought both units to compare. Air-O-Swiss is a clear winner, hands down.

The two machines sat side-by-side. It's clear immediately to everyone that Air-O-Swiss is quieter. Even at highest setting, Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier ' noise level and frequency are lower than Venta-Sonic's, and they blend nicely into background. They don't give me headaches as Venta-Sonic. At lower settings, Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier can be virtually silent. With Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier on, I slept very well. The next night was Venta night. Unfortunately, the base machine noise was just as bad as the first unit that I returned earlier for noise problems. I tried to go to sleep with it on but after a few hours, headaches and agitation from the noise made me shut it off and switch on Air-O-Swiss and slept through afterwards.

I kept on alternating units days and nights to observe results from continued operation. After three days, Venta-Sonic unit began to add that strange squeeking noise. Air-O-Swiss gave consistent good near silent performance...and going strong still. Just based on noise-level alone, I had to return Venta-Sonic even though Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier costs $50 more. But that extra costs are further justified by the following:

1. Consistent Performance - I can put Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier on automatic mode with preset humidity level before I go to sleep, when I wake up, my bedside humidity reader (far away from the machine) has within 1% margin of error to the preset desired level.
Venta-Sonic however, I can put it to MAX settings, and I get only around 32% sometimes and other times anywhere below 50%.

2. Greater Output Capacity - My bedroom is 300 square feet+, half of 600 both machines claim can cover. Air-O-Swiss comfortably reaches my desired level (b/w 40% and 50%) with lower settings (It can go as high as 75%, I only set it up to 50%). Venta-Sonic labors over 8 hours at MAX settings and gets me LESS humidity! It won't get me above 50%.

3. Ease of Use with Digital Control - I like Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier ' Auto Mode with Desired Humidity Setting. The machine adjusts output automatically. Venta-Sonic only has two dials, you'll have to experiment for a while to find the optimal settings. As soon as atmospheric humidity changes, which can be daily or a few hours, you'd have to re-adjust again...that's like shooting darts in the dark all the time, you can get close if lucky but never on target.

4. Better Mist Venting Notch Design - I put both machines on 3-feet-tall dresser. Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier notch is tilted higher than Venta's. This means when operating cold mist, Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier 's disappears into air vs. some Venta's still hit the floor - not enough to form condensation but less efficient in humidifying - perhaps that contributes to Venta's lower output previously mentioned.

5. Better Craftsmanship - Venta-Sonic is a notch below Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier , appears to be made simpler and CHEAPER.

Filter changes and clean up are similar. Venta needs to change filter cup. Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier needs filter cup and once-a-year silver stick change. Both are fool proof. Venta filters are more expensive but Air-O-Swill has extra silver stick. Cost-wise it's similar. I like Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier 's option of replacing resins - just dump old resin in filter cup and put new packet in and you get a NEW filter - this cuts cost by almost 65% and less trash for the environment.

Water tank design is similar. Both fills water upside down. I still prefer Air-O-Swiss because the top is more leveled, easier to sit in sink or bath tub than Venta's tilted top. When moving Venta-Sonic, water spilled between base and tank. I had no problem with Air-O-Swiss.

Anything Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier can improve? Sure! The humidity reader on the machine is adjusted about 13% lower than actual average room humidity. They probably did it to ensure average humidity far away from the unit reaches target, but I think they can do so internally without having to show it. It would be a mistake to read the room humidity off that machine.

After I got the machines, I googled on both. There was one review elsewhere saying that Venta-Sonic broke after a month and half, out of store 30-day warranty and owner took a loss. Air-O-Swiss has 3 year warranty, if I remember correctly, Venta 1 year.

The trouble I went through is worth the finding of the right humidifier for me. Hope this helps those with similar concerns!

Crane Adorable 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier Review #3

Adorable Frog Cool Mist HumidifierI first purchased a tear drop shaped Humidifier (made by the same company) for my bedroom. I loved it so much, I wanted to have another one for my home office, so purchased this Crane Adorable 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier. I knew the amount of output was a little less but it's so cute and also ~$8 cheaper, so I decided to try it.

The difference in between these two are

1. Output Amount - This is 0.2 gallons less than tear dropped shape. It's only "0.2 gallons," but I can easily tell the difference. This would be perfect for a smaller room, but diffidently recommend the other unit for a bigger room. I am using this unit in my home office (11 X 13) and the tear dropped shape in bedroom (14 X 23) and both work great. This unit has less output, but using it my office, it still makes the humidity level pretty high. Without running a room heater and the door completely closed, it can get up to mid 60%. It is normally in mid 40% without using this unit and mid 50% with a room heater going.

2. Run Time - Because the amount of mist comes out from this unit is much less than the other, its run time is much longer. I timed it, and ran a little over 16 hours (at the highest setting) that is 6 hours longer than the other unit! I am happy that I don't have to keep adding water so frequently.

3. Mist Angle - I wish penguin's face was a little more upright looking towards the ceiling so the mist will shoot upwards as tear dropped shape one dose nicely. However, this was quickly fixed as I place this unit at a higher place.

4. Materials - Compare to the tear dropped shape, the handle (top of the unit inside penguin's head), water tank and its cap look a little cheaply made, but still works great and there is no leak, so I do not have any problems with it.

After all, I am happy with both units. It really depends on the size of room you are using, how much output you want and how often you want to add water. I also posted a review for tear dropped shape if you are interested in knowing the basic work on this unit.

Crane Adorable 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier (Penguin Shape) #2

Crane Adorable 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier, Penguin ShapeWe live in an arid conditions in Las Vegas, the winters here are pretty hard system (low humidity, dust devils, hard water, etc.) DH and I developed a dry skin after a few winters, so we bought humidifer of well-known pharmacist in desperation, poor train, we should have learned it! No filter, noisy, well-known left white mineral powder size of furniture (including distilled water), not to mention it also left us with a terrible smell and taste of our mouths in the morning ... Yuck!

DH and I am not moody buyer really trying to do the work for us, but enough is enough!
So off we went surfing Amazon, I am a big fan of Amazon and its users and their basis, I would have found this product!

I bought a kite shape, the mist comes from two seats to his eyes, I use it every night mid-high performance and so far it has had no problems. It's really cool to see, but above all, IT WORKS! .It is not noisy, except for the odd bubble here and there when the water level drops, you can control the production, the fog almost invisible
(I have distilled because we use a water softener at home yet)
Not a strange taste and sinus issues we no longer are, it's even helped DH's snoring!

Personally I find any cons, other reviewers, who gave it 1 star was dud, but come on people in the plane did't ... they are all perfect, and even such as Amazon and replaced it with another one! Win-Win!

This Crane Adorable 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier, while fill again, you can place it on a flat surface, as used to enhance it so that the bottom handle, but it does not phase me, doesn 't make me want to give a negative rating - just use common sense and put them bundled towel and hold it with one hand.

The odd bad review should not give you a bad impression that not all the machines is for everyone, but it will eventually choose a design that makes it for you.

Crane Adorable 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier (Penguin Shape) #1

Crane Adorable 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier, Penguin ShapeI got the Penguin Humidifier ,Crane Adorable 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier, a week ago after researching various brands, some expensive, filter ones, big, hot ones, etc. And I read the reviews about the leak or break on this one, and that in principle there was a complaint on just about every brand out there - always a few problems. (! And the fact that it is ridiculous cute) So for a cost of $ 30 seemed to cover what I needed: something that was expensive, not too big and bulky, less is more fresh water through it (and less water sitting around getting ookey) and humidity would be where it used to add.

He has been running almost non-stop for weeks, sometimes less filling or when we were out, and it worked perfectly. The body reservoir, even when running on high, has lasted at least 16 hours. I had no problems with white dust on everything loud as my old one huge (I use tap water), and it does not spray water with so much fog. He certainly made a difference running at night in the bedroom - no noses and throats feeling 'dry as dust "in the AM. The Penguin Humidifier has a small footprint, about 9 cm in diameter and 12.75 inches high. It runs almost silently, but it does drip noise and actually sounds like our table fountain. It's a nice sound during the day but wore on me during the night, I did not use the sound and I still think it leaks when it was not. So now I run for a while before going to bed and I sleep much better all around.

Things to watch out for though ... The reservoir opening where you fill cap is a valve spring (similar to what your coffee maker basket). Must be a silicone O-ring that fits in the top of the cap. Our O-ring was in the hole, and it was clear-ish could be easily missed. In the O-ring cap can leak if not properly seated and the cap should be tightened snuggly. When filled and put right (there is even a bit of grip) is limited drip from the valve spring. Check that nothing is hidden spring-valve by pressing in (for filling) and the flap is not folded. Use cold water in the tank, and if you wait for the boiled water at room temperature before use. Using hot water can certainly cause the plastic to crackle and crack. Body should sit square on the 'butt' or it can dribble over the side a bit small.

We have absolutely no problems with this baby, and if I can I will update my work. It's a nice rocker on-off into 'left butt cheek. A dial on the front of it (I call it navel) to miss even at high volume is not depleted to adjust. The mist dial does not seem to affect the fountain noise at all, ie, less misting no it does reduce gurgling. A great little design and it does the job!
